Tonight, as I locked up the Tapestry, I looked across and saw the Jolly Gardeners sitting in darkness.

It stopped me in my tracks.

A pub is so much more than a business. It’s a meeting place, a landmark, a safe place to pop into, somewhere that keeps a high street alive from morning until late at night. When the lights go out, you don’t just lose a pub—you lose a little bit of the heart of the community.

It made me realise how important it is to support our local pubs, cafés, restaurants and independent shops. They create jobs, bring people together, keep our streets vibrant and make our neighbourhoods feel alive.

I genuinely hope the Jolly Gardeners finds a new chapter very soon, because no high street should have to look like this.

And it reminded me why we’re working so hard to reopen the Tapestry. We can’t wait to switch our lights back on, welcome people through the door again, and play our part in bringing life back to our corner of Mortlake.

Please, whenever you can, support local. Every coffee, every pint, every meal and every visit makes a difference.

What an incredible result! ❤️

Today we had the pleasure of presenting our £735 donation from the charity event held on Friday at Mortlake Crematorium. It was wonderful to see Natasha again, whose dedication to our local community is truly inspiring, and Amanda from the hospice, whose team will benefit from the funds raised.

Together, the event raised an amazing £5,500 for the hospice. We are incredibly proud that our contribution helped make that possible.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, supported the event, bought food, donated, and helped make the day such a success. It’s always a privilege to give something back to our community and be part of such a worthwhile cause.

Thank you, Natasha, for inviting us, Amanda for the incredible work you and your team do, and congratulations to everyone involved. We can’t wait to be back next year to make it even bigger and better!

Some days are simply meant to be… ✨🥘🎭

Today, I had the privilege of representing The Tapestry by cooking paella at a fantastic charity event in support of the hospice. A huge thank you to everyone at Mortlake Crematorium, the hospice team, the organisers, volunteers, and everyone who came along. Community events like these remind us how much can be achieved when people come together for a great cause. We’re looking forward to hearing how much was raised to support this incredible charity.

But then… something unexpected happened! 😄

I bought a couple of raffle tickets, and somehow luck was on my side… I won two tickets to Harry Potter in London’s West End! 🎉⚡

So today was a double win: helping raise money for an amazing cause and walking away with a magical surprise of my own!

Thank you to everyone who made today so special. Days like these make you proud to be part of such a wonderful community.

Now… I just need to decide who deserves the second Harry Potter ticket! 😉😂

What a fantastic night we had at The Tapestry yesterday!

It was wonderful to welcome so many familiar faces from our local community—people who have supported us over the years and celebrated so many special moments with us. From birthdays and weddings to Christmas parties and every excuse in between, it’s always a pleasure to be part of your memories.

Last night, we opened especially for our friends’ celebration, and we couldn’t have asked for a better atmosphere. The laughter, the dancing, the smiles, and all the lovely comments as people were leaving reminded us exactly why we love what we do.

Today I was in the kitchen and finally decided to make a banoffee pie for dessert. It turned out to be a very productive day, ticking quite a few things off the list, but making this pie was something I had been meaning to do for a long time.

As I was putting it all together, it took me back to the days when I first started working with Neil and Eddie at the Treehouse. Funny how food can bring back such wonderful memories. Those were great times, full of hard work, laughter, friendship, and lessons that have stayed with me throughout my career.

After more than 30 years working in kitchens and restaurants, I’ve been fortunate enough to meet some incredible people and create amazing memories along the way. So I’m tagging a few old friends here as a little reminder of the good old days.
